A great way to add some capacity to already large capacity or standard capacity mags is with the addition of a base pad to extend the bottom of the base pad to include more ammunition. Now there are tons of them out on the market and some are good some are bad. One we like in particular is the Henning Group base pads. So these are a plus five slash plus six I'll get to that second that just mount to the bottom of a Glock standard Glock mag with a new spring in it and increases the capacity to 22 or 23 rounds. Now we're gonna be selling this on our site and what comes in the package is the base pad itself and a new spring.

Now why do I need a new spring? Well because the actual OEM spring is very short and so when you add additional length to the bottom of the magazine the pressure is not going to be there to actually put the next round to the chamber whenever you're kind of getting run low. So that's why a more much longer spring is needed. To install this base pad you have to first remove the standard kind of floor plate on a Glock mag however you want to do it if you have the fancy tool or whatever normally I just use a allen key.

You'll remove everything from the OEM tube and we're gonna keep the actual follower because this new system you actually put it onto the spring so that all mags retain the lock back functional. So whenever you go dry with these mags with the OEM follower your slides still gonna lock back so you're in no danger of that. To install this on the new spring you're literally just gonna kind of snap it in place if it doesn't snap that's okay it's gonna snap when it comes to the mag but it snaps that's kind of cool. I'm gonna insert the new spring and follower combo into the tube and as you can see the spring is much longer than the original one.

Now to install the actual base pad itself you're going to back out this kind of set screw. Now this is not like other set screws on the market where actually this retains the magazine onto the or the base pad onto the magazine this is kind of just like a redundant step to just make sure it is. There's actually built-in kind of grooves and bosses into the actual edge of the base pad that maintains onto the magazine. So we're gonna put this onto the springs kind of find a good spot where it slides in and snap it in then we're gonna go ahead and crank down the allen key or the set screw whatever they call it and boom you then have a mag that has additional capability and the reason additional capabilities or more rounds in this mag is good for training purposes or hey this is kind of a grab mag what I like to say is like if I have a mag laying around in a backpack or in a truck I just want a little bit more capability from it.

I'm gonna throw this base pad on here I get five more rounds instead of like the normal 17. So one thing to note about all these this is advertised as a 23 round mag. Yes you can fit 23 rounds in this magazine however when you do that there is some issues of actually seeding it into a Glock because there's so much spring tension with that 23rd round. Generally I like to say is keep this at 22 rounds I would say it's reloadable at 22 rounds. So if you have 22 rounds in this thing you can insert into the gun no issues.

I'll say about these base pads in particular are these are made out of aluminum so they're gonna be a little bit more resilient than like kind of the polymers on the market or other ones as well have a little bit of weight so that should drop free from the mag better and then I've dropped these on concrete gravel dirt whatever it may be and I haven't had any issues other than like a little bit of scuffing. I personally have ran these for the past year and a half I want to say in competition and in practice all of my practice mags are these no issue with them I love them I have actually broken a lot of other base pads on the market where the feed lips kind of the edge here is a lot thinner these particularly are a lot thicker so they're more robust so if you have any questions hit us up at team@trex-arms.com send us an email and we'll answer the questions.
