Here we have the SAM XT. It will come in an elastic packaging. I recommend taking that off immediately prior to putting in any kit or getting any reps with it, training, etc. We'll go ahead and open it up. And we have a CAT Gen 7 for comparison. Both of these tourniquets are Kasi recommended. Both of them do the same thing and they have the same intended use. But each of these have some differences that I can appreciate about both. One is not better than the other and I actually recommend people buying multiple tourniquets of different variations so that you can become familiar with them and find out what works best for you. We'll start off with the CAT Gen 7. It's just a standard CAT. It's a standard tourniquet. Everyone should be familiar with a CAT, one generation or the other. They've been used in the military. People tend to like CAT's. They're kind of the staple when it comes to tourniquets. But here we have the SAM XT that is made by Sam Medical. XT stands for extremity tourniquet, and it has a couple different features that vary from the CAT Gen 7.

First off is the routing buckle. It's a little bit thicker and you can see as well on this tail. It has these little holes in it, and there are two teeth right here that will index into these holes. Now when you're applying it and there's some sort of object, whether it's an arm or a leg in the in between, the tourniquet, these will start to lock into place and the only way to remove that pressure is by pulling up this tab right here. It also has gling on the windlass, which I can appreciate as well. It gives you a little bit better, better dexterity, something to actually grab onto. It's a little more rough on your hands when it's wet, you know, cold, it's slick outside, whatever. You can actually get on it and apply some pressure. But that's not to say that you can't do the same with the CAT with a plastic windlass. And pretty, pretty simple for a tourniquet as well. It has a windlass bracket, it has a gray time and tape. And, and if you have any other questions, reach out to our customer service team at team@trex-arms.com and they can answer any questions that you might have.
